Getting Back in The Saddle

It's been weeks since I last sat and wrote something. My life has been a little chaotic for the past while, and writing just did not take priority. I felt like my days were filled with so many things to do that any second of free time I got was best dedicated to a good nap.
I am trying not to feel guilty about that. I know that pushing your body too far isn't beneficial to anyone. But I can't help but wish that there was more time in the day. One of my hopes for the future is to have the time freedom to write when I want to.
Here we are now. Things have calmed down for the foreseeable future, and I have to get back to work if I want to accomplish my goals. I have to get back into the headspace of being a writer. I have to leave behind the partier, the worker, the student, the daughter and simply be the writer.

I want to be consumed by my work once more. I want to feel words pouring out of me and manifesting into wonderful worlds of imagination. It's whimsical. It's a high unlike any other.
Sitting and writing here helps prep my brain for what is to come. The slow but steady march of choosing the right word. Finding meaning in places I did not know there were. Trying to become a person I have never been to create a compelling character.
I have no choice but to write. It drives me.
I've been away too long. So I can't wait to sit in that saddle again. To put my foot in the stirrups. To hold the reins. To be in control.
