January Check In

So January is almost over and I have vowed to write 5 chapters a month until my book, 'Merla', is done. I'm half way through chapter 4 right now. That means I'm going to have to write an entire chapter in one day. Tomorrow.
Honestly my biggest issue with that is not at all that it's impossible I write fast and I already know what I'm doing because I plan extensively. My biggest problem is really that I get distracted at the drop of a hat.
If I could sit down and spend a work day's worth of time writing I'd be knocking my goals out the park. But there are so many more factors involved in, not just writing, but accomplishing any long term goal.
Instead of focusing on what distracts me let me outline how I overcome those things:
Putting away my phone. It really is that damn phone like my mom said.
Getting comfortable. If I feel even a smidge of discomfort I will relocated to my bed. Immediately.
Having everything I need at an arm's reach. If I need to get up to do anything there is an incredibly high chance I will go on a side quest. So we've got water and snacks on deck.
Additional entertainment. I have to have music or some sort of low stimulation background noise so the voices don't win.
Even with these things I still get distracted and finding motivation can be difficult. So ultimately it's about wanting it.
I want to write so I will. I want to make myself proud so I must.
Tomorrow I'll be posting a video following my process on my socials so stay tuned.
